Duties:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Meet all established service goals as measured by the Internal Service Survey

  2. Demonstrate enthusiastic support of corporate mission, core values and long-term objectives

  3. Perform job duties within regulations, bylaws, policies, established internal and external service standards and procedures

  4. Build and maintain a database of relevant loan metrics to calculate and analyze the allowance for loan and lease losses including procedures and modeling tools to provide credible recommendations relative to the data

  5. Maintain the appropriate environment of internal financial controls to ensure that the financial statements and reports are free from material errors

  6. Identify, interpret, and analyze potential accounting risks and issues

  7. Identify and initiate cost saving opportunities with particular focus on ensuring sales tax exemption is received

  8. Assist in the design, implementation and maintenance of a system for fixed asset accounting and reporting

  9. Assist with all facets of property management

  10. Support financial closing process and ALM modeling to forecast financial performance including analysis of interest rate, liquidity and concentration risk

  11. Assist in automating, balancing and monitoring the quarterly regulatory reporting process

  12. Assist with the preparation of various reports for internal and external audits and exams

  13. Prepare analytics and reporting of industry and economic data

  14. Assist in the preparation and analysis of the annual budget and periodic forecasts and other reports as necessary

  15. Develop and maintain member, product and branch profitability analysis

  16. Create monthly and ad hoc reporting including relevant comparisons and trend analysis as required

  17. Support all positions and responsibilities in the accounting department

  18. Perform other analysis, reporting or special projects as assigned

Requirements:

Qualifications Required:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; or other related field of study; or comparable relevant experience

Success Factors / Job Competencies:

Requires a professional demeanor and a positive attitude about credit union policies and procedures. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must have a strong working knowledge of regulations affecting accounting principles and practices. Requires proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Proficiency of the credit union’s core system and financial reporting system is a plus. The successful candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, have a strong ability to think analytically and be able to prioritize and manage interruptions throughout the workday without losing efficiency or productivity.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Typical indoor office environment; must be able to remain stationary for long periods of time in a sitting position. Must be able to occasionally stand and move about or traverse inside the office to access cabinets, files, office machines, etc. Requires continuous communication to others and exchanging of information and repetitive use of hand/fingers, such as keyboard typing, telephone and use of office equipment. Requires frequent written communication and handling stress/emotions. Must be able to continuously think analytically, concentrate on tasks and remember names/detail.
